We work for sustainable tourism

We value small towns to promote the development of a more sustainable planet.
Ruralis is an Italian start-up born in a village of 3,000 inhabitants, aiming to innovate from a different perspective to support vacation homeowners in small Italian villages.

Inland areas face serious depopulation problems, causing economic, social hardship and inequality.

Ruralis is committed to supporting these communities, emphasizing the importance of their role in Italy's economic and social fabric.

Our Sustainable Development Goals

Ruralis contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically targets 11.4, 11.6 and 11.a (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 12.8 and 12.b (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 17.14 and 17.16 (Partnership for the Goals).

How do we contribute to change?

Inland areas and villages are the heart of Italy: enhancing their heritage is essential for more equitable and sustainable tourism.
In a scenario where overtourism is rampant in large centers, Ruralis is committed to distributing tourist flows to lesser-known locations.

Bringing tourists from around the world to small towns means protecting the environment, with small towns often having a smaller carbon footprint than large cities, and supporting the local economy.

At the same time, tourists benefit from stays in these areas characterized by clean air, tranquility and well-being.
The company actively participates in European policy making with a bottom-up approach, collaborating with the EU CAP Network.
Ruralis is based in a mountain village in southern Italy and promotes remote working, with 70 percent of the team working remotely, demonstrating the possibility of innovating in unusual places.

On social media, with a community of more than 40 thousand followers, Ruralis talks about the issues of inland areas, avoiding communication focused solely on selling the service.

Ruralis collaborates with Lifegate, an Italian leader in promoting sustainability and an investor in Ruralis.
We partner with Freedome to promote authentic experiences that enhance the land and economy of the areas where our properties are located.
