At Ruralis, we want to ensure that there is no shortage of opportunities for either the boroughs or the people who work with us. Our Gender Equality Plan is the concrete way we turn these values into commitments: equity, inclusion, attention to people's well-being and quality of work, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 8 of the 2030 Agenda.

Ruralis has two main offices: one in Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi, Italy, and one in St. Petersburg, United States.
Ruralis is a growing company, founded in 2022.
In 2022, the team consisted of one person: Nicolas Verderosa, the company’s current founder. Today, as of April 2026, Ruralis has around 35 full-time team members, with an average age of about 30.
It is an international team made up of motivated and passionate people who speak an average of 2.5 languages. The selection process is very careful: on average, Ruralis has received about 300 applications for each confirmed position.
On Trustpilot, in the Italian market, Ruralis is among the most appreciated companies in the sector.
In particular, it ranks first for customer satisfaction among more than 100 companies in the vacation rental management industry, and third in the real estate market among more than 700 reviewed companies.
Nicolas Verderosa is the founder and current CEO of Ruralis.
From a young age, he showed a strong passion for entrepreneurship: as a child, he sold pumice stones during summer holidays, unused household items at small village stalls, wool hats made by his grandmother, and even tried to sell blowpipes made from reeds.
At the age of 14, he bought a cigarette vending machine, inspired also by his grandmother’s experience as a tobacconist and by the observation that, during the shop’s closing hours, there was still unmet demand.
At 17, he went to Worthing, England, to study English for a month. Since it was a very positive experience, he wanted to return in the following years and made an agreement with the local school: if he brought 10 students, he could participate in the trip for free and also save some money.
He continued this activity for about five summers, earning €10,000 from the last trip he organized. These earnings were later used to start the entrepreneurial activity that would become Ruralis. At the time, it was called EiTravel and focused on study trips.
Nicolas graduated with top marks in Economics from the University of Milano-Bicocca, completing his bachelor’s degree in a very short time, in 2 years and 8 months. During his studies, he had experiences abroad in Latvia and Spain and wrote a thesis on smart working in the United States, co-funded by the University of Milano-Bicocca, at a time when, in 2018, smart working was still much less discussed than it is today.
After his bachelor’s degree, he moved to the United States, to New York City, working from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for an agency specialized in creating tourist trips and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in accounting at Lisar USA, because his initial salary in New York was not enough to cover all expenses.
He later decided to leave New York City to start his own business. In the meantime, he completed an MBA in Entrepreneurship at EU Business School, at the Munich and Barcelona campuses, as well as a Master of Science in International Management at the University of Roehampton, London.
Ruralis was founded in 2022, without initial external investment, thanks to bootstrapping carried out by Nicolas Verderosa between 2019 and 2022.
In 2019, EiTravel’s goal was to help teenagers learn a new language and culture during the summer through two-week trips in host families.
Later, thanks to contacts developed in the United States, Nicolas also organized an experience with Princeton University, bringing 15 American students to Gesualdo for one month during the summer to discover Italian culture.
With the arrival of Covid, the young company’s path changed. The activity, initially linked to study trips, gradually transformed: Nicolas began consulting on public administration tenders, creating tourism promotion services for the Campania Region and organizing day experiences and travel packages for people interested in visiting nearby areas, including accommodation.
From there, he increasingly understood the market need for professional management of vacation homes and short-term rentals. This led to the transformation of the project into Ruralis, a company specialized in short-term rental management, able to support owners in different territories with a strong mission: creating value for owners and contributing to the tourism and socioeconomic development of villages, inland areas and less recognized territories.
As of June 1, 2026, Ruralis manages more than 700 listings, a number that is growing month after month as more and more owners choose Ruralis to manage their vacation homes.
